First-stage CBT for Junior Engineer, Depot Material Superintendent and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant posts in Indian Railways, under CEN 04/2026.
Exam format
Computer-based test on 27, 28 and 30 October 2026 (tentative), held in shifts. You get one date; the exam city and date slip comes about 10 days before and the e-call letter about 4 days before. CBT 1 is a screening test: 100 questions in 90 minutes on Mathematics, Reasoning, General Awareness and General Science, with 1/3 mark deducted per wrong answer. Eligible SC/ST candidates can download a free travel authority.
What to carry
- Printed admit card or call letter
- Original photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, voter ID, passport or driving licence) with the same name as the admit card
- Aadhaar card or e-verified Aadhaar printout, for biometric checks
- Two recent passport-size photos, the same as the one you uploaded
- SC/ST travel authority, if you have one
- Anything else your admit card asks for
